History

Albu Rural Municipality Government started to construct the Valgehobusemäe Ski and Recreation Centre in 1997, after it purchased 14 hectares of local real estate. The goal was to establish a year-round fitness sports centre for all sports lover! The project manager is Kalju Kertsmik, the Mayor of Albu Rural Municipality, and the project development team also includes Jaak Mae. The centre has become the regional fitness sports centre for Järva County!








From 2001 to 2011, the following buildings and structures were added to the centre:
- ski, hiking and cycling trails (3 and 5 km)
- illuminated ski trail (2 km)
- stadium
- access road (900m) and car park for 200 cars
- Visitors’ Centre
- renovated viewing tower (25 m)
- ski bridge
- pond (0.6 ha)
- artificial snow production system
- snow tubing course
- snowboarding slope
- lift hill
- children’s sledding hill
- open-air training campus
- auxiliary building
- building with accommodation for 24 people
- campfire grounds and campsites
- caravan parking
- permanent orienteering trail
- permanent Internet connection and Wi-Fi area
- power substation

The centre’s ski trails are maintained by a trail tractor and snowmobile!
The centre’s trails are connected to the Kõrvemaa Fitness Trails! The 50 km cycling trail starts and ends here, taking cyclists to the most beautiful places in Kõrvemaa, including Kakerdaja Bog.

From the centre, you can hike to the Rehessaare Boulder (5 km)
The hilly Mägede nature study and hiking trail (4 km) has been established around the centre.
Various sports and leisure events can be organised at the centre!
The largest event organised by Albu Rural Municipality at the centre is the international Jaak Mae Cup Ski Race!
